I vote yes, I just believe that if a mod does not like the way a member says something they should not be just allowed to say stuff if they don't like it I will get rid of them. If there is a group of members who as a group can decide that a member has stepped outside the guidelines then impose a penalty. I believe there has been some over reactions on here recently. That if more consideration had been used the situation could have been worked out.

I vote no, but i agree with what you have to say about the mods giving their two cents worth on what another member has to say and then kicking them while their down. More consideration is needed, the mods can choose to take these comments on board or just ignore them but their needs to be a fair system for all walks of life.

My concerns have been voiced in other threads, so ill just affirm my vote as YES. Id be interested to know if the mods did have control of polls...they seem to be able to control most of the functions of the ozcards forum.

Im not sure if this poll will mean jack shit or not though...if i was a betting man id be putting a few bob on the NO's winning this one...lol, even if the Yes's somehow win, the mods can still just choose to ignore it anyway

i guess i agree, if the current mods took these concerns on board and actually made some tangible changes to the way things work around here, then theres no need for any change of heirarchy. its up to the mods to change their attitude though (this seems unlikely however).

Well, banning someone is not nice if it's a personal matter, since i don't know anything i don't really want to say anything...

but this statement is definitely not nice, "if members do not like mods rules, shall we just leave"???

Moderation is by all means of monitoring to become better in any given situation... i am not trying to be a smartarse.. if i want to be.. i would use remote proxy server and come back with anytime if i am meant to be banned.. and these forums are easy to take a crack, as vbulletin is php/mySql based....

so, if you keep banning people, you are generally inviting danger to the whole community.. hence, everything could go wrong.. i am just starting to enjoy my life here.. so please keep everyone close and happy..

I think the power structure may not be changed, but instant bans should not be practised especially to members who are active.. since they may have ongoing trade/sales/deals...

What a useless poll and do you really think Admin ban a member over one indiscretion? There is more to it than most can see. Not all members get the full story and in the end of the day Admim are responsible with keeping the site running smooth and free of friction. This site isn't run for free and isnt owned by all. I think you are forgetting all the good that is done by the mods/Admin for the site in general in its running and its pretty easy to jump on the negative. Its not easy as there is always someone that isn't happy with a descion, its impossible to keep everyone happy at times. The same members that might have a go are the first to ask for help in situations that arrive on the site. Some members don't know when to quit and today was an example of this. Everyone should just chill and post away as normal. If you just post about cards and the NBA and do so in a friendly manner then you have nothing to worry about. Ozcards is 99% a friendly place and the best card board online. Opinions are one thing but attacking members etc is another. Nothing else needs to be said. Mods/Admin aren't here to censor, merelyto keep things running smoothly and some decisions aren't popular.

NO,NO,NO.Have people forgotten ,We would not have this site if not for the guy's who OWN it & RUN'S it.They do this for US,all of us.

I am not personaly attacking anybody,Just supporting the blokes that make this site the best there is & i hope it stays that way.
This site has come so far & it's only becuase of the guy's who have devoted thier time & $$ to make it happen.

All we have to do is treat eachother with respect & honesty.

Hell no! Just because we don't agree (myself included) with the mods decision to ban Justin, it doesn't mean we need a whole structure overhaul. Everyone is entitled to the occassional mistake.. the mods here do a fantastic job and make ozcards the awesome place it is. If they do start banning 5 or so people then maybe we can think about restructuring but in the meantime.. don't sweat the small stuff and just applaud the mods. I still don't agree with the ban on Justin though....

i don't think the "power structure" should be changed, but i do think as fellow members we should get a say in who gets banned.
yze magic is one guy i thought should have been banned earier and justin is one member i think shouldn't be banned.

i also think that the mods are coming across as heavy handed with minor issues that can be sorted out and they have to be more vocal leaders.

let's say you "mods" are the prime minister of this community, do you think that our prime minister the honourable johnny howard;) would say something like "if you don't like our/my choices then **** off" i doubt it.................

you need to be setting examples of how to behave not engage in the behaviour aswell.
and to harp on the so called "smartarse" comments, maybe there should be extra guidlines to enforce this, i like to be a smartarse as much as the next person but will only make smartarse comments to members i know well.

I've been away and just getting caught up on the site news but feel this is an important enough issue to comment on.

I have read the threads that lead to this poll but I'm not going to vote because a yes / no answer to "Should the power structure of Ozcards be changed?" is too black and white.

I don't want to see the mods changed because I believe they do a great (and thankless) job the majority of the time but I do think some improvements can and should be made to the forum.

- clear rules of what will get you banned
- clear rules of what will get your post deleted (probably the same as what gets you banned)
- set process of what happens when you break the rules - warning by PM, one week ban, etc
- all rules posted in a rules section of the forum (including trading and packaging rules, etc)
- a mod should not be able to enact a ban on any issue that they are personally involved in

That's my two cents worth.

I voted no..BEFORE i realised what had occured earlier.
Must say ide change my vote !!!

What happened earlier ???

I voted - NO

Although there is the occasional occurrence I may disagree with, I think the Mods / Admin here do a damn fine job (Especially compared to other Message Board I am a member of).

Which Justin was banned ? Surely not Justin from WA the West Coast Eagles supporter ??? Don't tell me he was banned for his little dig at Chad about box busting....surely not ?!? What have I missed here ???
