Official 2013-14 NBA Regular Season Thread - SPOILERS!

Players like Keith Bogans, MarShon Brooks and Kris Humphries have, however, had to figure out a way to deal with a situation that is less than ideal with all three looking at free agency at the end of the year. For the most part, they have been professional about it, even when it’s gnawed at them inside. "Your job title doesn’t say you’re going to play," Bogans said before Friday night’s game against the Cavaliers. "I know what it takes to be in this league, to stick around. I’m just trying to help MarShon out. It’s really tough on him being younger. I’m helping him stay ready, so when he gets called he’s making the most of his opportunity." The Thunder played the second half without Kendrick Perkins, who suffered a dislocated finger. That's usually no big deal, except Gran Torino teamed with Ibaka to let the Warriors have little in the paint. Golden State took advantage of rookie center Steven Adams, who played in Perkins' stead. “There's no question they're an exciting team and they're tough to guard,” Brooks said. “Whoever plays either team is going to have their hands full.” Oklahoman - See more at: http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm#sthash.M6QCjNql.dpuf

The Heat dumped Beasley for next to nothing to make room for James and Bosh, and now Beasley is back and playing for a nonguaranteed contract at the veteran’s minimum. Meanwhile, the Suns are paying Beasley $7 million. Ever season since 2011, the Heat has improved its depth beyond its starters and Beasley has added yet another valuable set of skills to the mix. He is averaging 19.3 points and 7.1 rebounds per 36 minutes, according to basketball-reference.com. “Michael has an unlimited skill set. He really does,” Spoelstra said. “He can score and find the basket virtually from anywhere on the court. Our system now is different. Obviously our personnel is different than when we had him the first two years, but in terms of the routine and the structure and the work ethic, it’s identical. So, he has embraced that work every single day. He is more experienced now and he is embracing the opportunities that he gets.” Miami Herald - See more at: http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm#sthash.P1Dm5fPX.dpuf

Update on Bennett

The first 16 games have been a disaster for Anthony Bennett. Entering Saturday’s home game against the Chicago Bulls, Bennett played fewer minutes and scored fewer points than undrafted rookie Matthew Dellavedova and equaled C.J. Miles’ turnover total in 80 less minutes. Nothing the Cavs have tried thus far with Bennett has worked. So here’s an idea… Start him. Crazier yet, start him at small forward, a position where he has hardly ever practiced in his life. At this point, what do the Cavs have to lose? Another game? Cavaliers coach Mike Brown said he has considered the idea. Akron Beacon Journal

The day after they drafted Bennett, the Cavs made it clear he was strictly a power forward this season. Privately, a number of people within the organization envisioned his long-term future in the NBA as a small forward, but Bennett was a raw 19-year-old who had only ever played power forward and center. The Cavs wanted to keep things as simple as possible during his transition to the NBA, so they committed to keeping him at power forward for this season. Akron Beacon Journal

Shame about Harris....

After Tobias Harris encountered a setback in his return from a high-ankle sprain, the Orlando Magic forward received a second MRI on his lower left leg and sought a second medical opinion. The timetable for his return to the court remains in doubt, but it seems like he won’t be playing again in the immediate future. “High-ankle sprains take time, and everybody’s healing timeline is different,” Magic general manager Rob Hennigan said Saturday. “And, right now, Tobias is working through that and trying to figure [that] out. When he feels his ankle is right, he’ll be ready to play. So, our stance right now is to be precautious and make sure that we don’t rush him back.” Orlando Sentinel - See more at: http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm#sthash.P1Dm5fPX.dpuf

Update on Bennett

what else can they do? how about run a play for him every time down the court until he scores a few times!!! Have they done that? Not from what I have seen. Not gonna matter in a loss anyway. Get his confidence going. This is a crucial time, could easily turn into a bust if all self confidence is lost. Need to actually do something coach!
