where did I say that, you need to learn how to read!, I don't give a rats about Luke Brooks or Nathan Brown for that matter, My issue is the NRL and its changing rules....

Maybe we should all sign a former club representative player on a severley back ended contract for our run into the finals... Only for him to retire after we win it!!
Your right, rules are rules... Sometimes they are broken, sometimes merely bent...

going to have to agree wit rob here, that was complete bullshit the terms of that deal. you were lucky you won it that season, because you've run yourself into the ground in doing so

Geez if your going to debate at least debate with correct information, Gasnier didn't retire after we won it, and furthermore we are still paying his contract as per the rules, so your argument is wrong, Not to mention if we got an exemption for Gasnier he would never have left in the first place... (but that's another story)

Its BS is your been misinformed.. You can blame Bennett & Doust for putting us in the position, but Dragons fans are grateful that we won as it had been so long and ask anyone they would a GF win followed by 2-3 years of crap...

Claim innocence and subject of circumstance all you like...
You got a club hero back for cupcakes of his worth and retired him after you win the big won. The fact you are still paying for him now (2+yrs after retirement) proves it more than anything!!! I guess fair and unfair depends on ones perception!! And if you consider his showings in 2011 worthy of mention... Then I have no problem with that!! The man told me himself, he came back to win a premiership... And they got the job done!! Believe what you like...

Of course he came back to win a premiership, why wouldn't he, he told everyone in the media as well, not to mention he told everyone after the GF win back at the club, your not the only one he has told haha...Yes we are paying for him still as per the rules(no exemption here), which were in place and which we have abided by THATS THE POINT, we didn't get an exemption, can you get that, NO EXEMPTION know one changed rules to suit us or any other team that does that, but rules where changed for Brooks & Brown, not at the start of the year but towards the end that's the BS, you start the year all playing by the same rules, they should have left it as it was and can changed it at the start of the year in 2014. Your issue is your taking it as a personal attack on the tigers, im not attacking the tigers, im attacking the NRL and there amateur attempt at running this game..

Or... You get a club hero back, give him what you can at the time and tell him we'll give you the rest next year, and the year after, and the year after... Yeah, that's fair!!

umm now your clutching at straws every club literally back ends contracts, and there is no issue with that, part of the rules, Stewart brothers had back end contracts , Inu was given a back end contract to fit him into the dogs, plenty of examples that's this happens and is part of a strategy regarding the salary cap, I can tell you that the roosters do this with young players they give them extra before they play 1st grade and when they make the top 25 they will take less, anyway your entitled to your wrong opinion and im entitled to my correct opinion :)

plenty of examples

South Sydney plan to create salary cap space for Greg Inglis by signing him to a heavily back-ended contract laced with third-party deals

Officials have only themselves to blame. They could have put a stop to back-ended deals but didn't. The irony is that their only hope of keeping Cherry-Evans is to sign him to - you guessed it - a back-ended deal.

Not that I bothered to check, but how many of your "examples" involve players still playing the game?
Back ending contracts has absolutely no relevance to bringing back a world class player for a tilt at the title, and paying him his going rate for years after he's gone to compensate him adequately and do it "legally" the length of Gas's contract was nothing more than a smokescreen to get him on the field in 2010 for SFA!! Deny it all you like....

for those watching this argument, who are you siding with ? im just interested to know, ill be honest im with batboy i think the other deals are completely different situations to the gasnier deal.

Im on an iphone, and i was guessing that they were!!
This thread is 290 pages long...
There's "lots" of discussions...
You made your point about brooks and brown...
My point, is people tend to squawk about what is right and wrong when it suits them... And generally get there back up when reminded the rub of the green going there way... As you have again shown!! As I said... Some rules are bent, some broken...

Shown what, because I'm having a discussion I have my back up, no need to attack the man, keep to the topic, you make statements re back ended contracts, when your proven wrong (facts provided), you reply attacking without reading them, so I will say this again, the Gasnier situation is allowed, you can backend contracts ALL clubs do it, you pay for it down the track, other clubs do it and atleast when they back ended those contracts they still have the player, we didn't have Gasnier for the last 2 years & we could have used him we paid for that...
The whole point of the discussion was the amateur attempt at the NRL to run the game, by changing rules, why change it??
