NRL Rumour Mill Thread (Spoilers)

The Brisbane Broncos are the worse club for poaching players and obviously struggling post Lockyer and seeing this is their longest stretch since winning a premiership, they are trying to buy one quickly.

Haha well that's the biggest load of crap I've read today. Brisbane along with the eels are probably the sides with the most local juniors in there squads.

Tigers last side fielded about 10 local juniors, and a couple more that made their NRL debut with the club...
That's not a bad effort!! And that's without the 4 Local Juniors that are starters that are out.
Next year our starting side could look a little like this... All bar 1 from our juniors, All bar 3 local.

1: Tedesco
2: Koroibete
3: Nofoaluma
4: Lawrence
5: Simona
6: Sironen
7: Brooks
8: Woods
9: Farah
10: Galloway
11: Fulton
12: Masilla
13: Sue

Most teams these days are loaded with Local Juniors... But as always, Outside recruitment is a must.
And some years are heavier than others!!

I think this "compassionate grounds" thing is opening up a can of worms.

If you can't honour your contract at the club you should be made to sit out of the game until your contract expires.

I understand Barba wanting to be with his kids or Milford with his sick father but why should they be able to play for another club ?

If they want to go to Queensland for these reasons then why can't they or their club find employment elsewhere until their contract expires ?

A contract is definitely not worth the paper it is written on these days.

The Brisbane Broncos are the worse club for poaching players and obviously struggling post Lockyer and seeing this is their longest stretch since winning a premiership, they are trying to buy one quickly.

The issue with sitting out until your contract expires is that it is not fair on the Club that they are the contracted to. Example; Robbie Farah decides to sit out and the Tigers have 800k out of their salary cap and paying someone to do nothing. I think the compensation and not being paid more than they would be contracted to is reasonable.

I don't think the Broncos are worse than any one really, they certainly have been linked with every off contract player but that more about the media having a frenzy than reality.

Considering a lot of their "local" juniors throughout their history have been from outside the Brisbane area ie: from country QLD.

They always seem to show a lot of interest in their "locals" when they have slipped through their fingers and show promise at another club.

BREAKING: Raiders player Sandor Earl has been issued an infraction notice over use and trafficking of peptides.

He is facing a two-year ban for peptide use and four years to life for trafficking.

He has been issued an infraction notice by the NRL in the first scalp of the ASADA investigation - specifically for the use of the substance CJC 1295. Earl can accept a looming NRL sanction or fight it in a tribunal.

Earl, 23, has been stood down from playing. NRL boss Dave Smith said at a press conference Earl had made "admissions" of both use and trafficking performance-enhancing peptides.

“From the outset we have made it clear in relation to performance enhancing substance we would follow due process to ensure our game is clean," Smith said.

"I want to make it very clear that the broader ASADA investigation is continuing…like everyone involved in the game we believe it needs to be brought to a conclusion as quickly as possible.

"He (Earl) agreed to stand down and has subsequently been stood down.

"He admitted to use and trafficking of peptides. He made an admission and we issued an infraction notice.

"We have stood him down and it is a provisional suspension."

Earl had publicly denied the allegations previously.

"I was shocked at the allegations raised ... and I absolutely deny any wrongdoing," he had said in a statement.

Smith said investigations related to the ASADA investigation had been completed for the NRL and he did not expect any further announcements to be made on findings imminently.

He said Earl's welfare would be considered as proceedings unfolded.

This season has been so bad all I can do is laugh now.

And yet we still have a slim chance of finals although I personally think we are gone!

Earl was gone at the end of the season anyways, assuming these charges are from when he was at Penrith?

I couldn't care less about the losses of Dugan and Fergo, great players that they are they were 'cancerous' at Canberra and I think it is better for the club and the individuals they have moved on.

If by some miracle we kept Milford I would be stoked because he seems to be a really well adjusted kid and he sort if player you can build a club around

I'm sure Roma's NRL side where spewing when we stole lockyer from them. Deadset outside of bringing Prince and Stagg back this year and signing the 2 for next year possibly 3 you'd be hard pressed to name more then 10 big name players we stole from other clubs at there peak.

i think he will be playing within 2 years. this trafficking term is bullshit. he hasnt sold anything, all he has done is bought it off site and brought it to the club doctor to get injected with. i actually feel sorry for him, hes owned up to it and is going to cop it and be made an example of, while the sharks get off scotch free...

I didn't know Roma had an NRL side. And i didn't say at their peak but i'll give you 10 if you like.

It does seem harsh on the face of it but they are trying to make an example out of him. I suppose it also depends on the definition of 'trafficking' under ASADA legislation.

Selling / supplying is not the same as trafficking.

Trafficking refers to the running of a business so unless it is known what disclosures he actually made to ASADA it is difficult to say why he has been sanctioned for that.
