That's right when many of us first discovered basketball cards and the exotic world of NBA basketball late at night on Channel 10 with Bill Woods and co and the must watch Top Ten Plays of the Week......

So in honor of the old Top Ten - thought I'd give this a crack in true 90s fashion....

*try to remember the voie of the guy who did the top ten plays of the week*

#10
Kicking us off at Number 10 is an officer and a gentleman who made the Spurs wait until the 89 90 season before making waves in the NBA.....

The Admiral David Robinson /100

#9
...at 9 we have a fellow former #1 draft pick whose nickname was sweeter than his game!

The Kandiman Michael Olowokandi /90

#8
...landing with a thud at #8 is the big fella named after the 'big country' he saw on his first plane trip to New York

Bryant 'Big Country' Reeves

...so nice - we bought it thrice!

#7
Blowing up at #7 are two can't miss prospects who hit on blackjack and went 'bust'....

Roy Rogers (5 blocked shots a game as a senior and 14 blocks in one single game!)
IMG_0024-10_zpsec341115.jpg

Ed O'Bannon - was going to collect this guy instead of Mashburn!

#6
Now it's time to get out our 6 shooters at #6! Bang! Bang! Out go the lights....

Michael Finley

#5
Leading the charge into the top 5 are some well renowned floor generals of the 90s...

Terrell Brandon (hard to get an auto of him)
IMG_0029-11_zps0cb4aa3b.jpg

Mookie Blaylock (have you ever seen a Mookie auto before? ....especially with this massive on card goodness!)
IMG_0030-9_zpsb50a5bd4.jpg

..and the Timbug /99!
IMG_0031-8_zps4217615c.jpg

#4
...at #4 is a big scoring forward formerly known as Employee #8!

Antoine Walker
IMG_0032-6_zpscd6f0963.jpg

#3
...from one big scoring forward to another, this 'Big Dog' went #1 overall in 1994!

Glenn Robinson (big on card autographics goodness)
IMG_0033-6_zpsc384b466.jpg

#2
Big scorers, big dogs...how about the big man in the middle with big time D? Pretty hard to navigate the lane with Big Mount Mutombo in the way!

Dikembe Mutombo /128
IMG_0034-6_zpsa0d05e8e.jpg

#1
Taking out our top spot is the man whose personality is bigger than Mount Mutombo and has a bite more way more fierce than the Big Dog's bark...

...it's the Worm!

Dennis Rodman!

Thanks for tuning in see you next week for more NBA action!

Thanks for looking everyone, comments always appreciated - hope you enjoyed the trip down memory lane! Nothing major - but happy to relive some memories from back in the day!

Pfft!!, you claim that the first picture depicts an Officer and a Gentleman...looks nothing like Richard Gere

Mmm, were going to collect Ed O'Bannon over Mashed Potatos...that PC would have been completed pretty quickly and young Skip might have actually had some money in the Bank

Guys with biceps like that don't have to be gentlemanly! ...in a weird way I wish I did collect Ed O'Bannon, never too late to start I suppose? hah hah

LOL great commentary as usual

You're an Adelaide guy of the Mashburn era so I know you're of the Billy Woods midnight NBA game era too! The guy who did those top ten plays of the week was crazy! Good times!

Awesome pickup Skip. Love the trip as well, I can be in another room of the house and hear that voice....and come running.

The Worm...goes to North Korea and while there is hoping to meet PSY...

excellent mailday.... great commentary... what do you mean Brandon is hard to get???

Awesome story & cards too mate

Not a story mate - just me going nuts! I'm guessing you had the top ten plays in Indonesia too!

Massive haul of Brandon right there! lol Got Mookie?! heh heh

The Brandon auto is nice mate, got one too, not easy to find indeed!

Always a great pleasure to travel with you Skip, that's remember me the old good time of the 90 years.
In France in the 90's years the NBA was only on a paying channel name CANAL+ and like my parents couldn't pay for having this channel all the wednesday after my train with my friends we always went to a friend house who's got this channel to look the news of the NBA and a match.
I remember it was for us like magic world :D

So very happy to see all these guys in your thread ( and remember also what my mama said about Rodman : you will never marry a guy like him my lovely daughter  :D )

That Rodman is pretty sweet

heh heh, I think someone is a bit too young to have appreciated the NBA in the early 90s huh?!
