Official 2012-13 Offseason thread - trades, rumours, etc

On Sportcenter they were saying no chance of Knicks matching the offer. The 3rd year of the deal would cost them 30mil because of the tax. They are peeved that Houston upped their offer from the original amount and also angry that Lin signed. They thought he should've shown them some more respect for giving him a chance. Apparently it's gotten to Lins head a bit and the Knicks are not happy.

They obviously don't need Lin now but it is a shame to see him go.

You could really argue both sides to this quite easily.

To be honest Lin would still be behind Kidd and Felton, so 30 mill is a bit to spend on a back up pg. He wouldn't see as many minutes as he would in Houston. A better situation for him, more minutes to showcase his skills!

Yeah, I like Felton, he had the Knicks running very smoothly before he was traded. Lin was good for the Knicks when Amare and Melo were injured. But it's not really working with them all playing.

Knicks have made a solid decision, even though it may upset some people.

Agreed, everyone should just move on! lol

The New York Knicks seem to be choosing, the Carmelo Anthony way of playing and the Lin, Fields, Jeffries, Chandler idea which was more about a team working together. One question to ask is why Toronto didn't want Fields and Lin, another is to think that the same people that are in Houston now are the same ones who thought Lin wasn't good enough not long ago.

It would still be crazy for the Knicks to let Lin go, if the reason is money and a luxury tax problem three years from now that is a bit strange as Lin already made the Knicks more money last year than anything the luxury tax could be.

One thing for certain, Houston has made the offseason very interesting. Maybe they traded, and gave away, all their team to rebuild around Donatas Motiejunas, and maybe they will have Lin, J Richardson, Parsons, Big Baby Davis and Howard. Imagine if halfway through the season Yao's feet are better, or good enough for 10 minutes per game, and he is back playing.

I feel bad for all the Knicks fans that spent up big on lin merchandise last season. That is a part of this business that really upsets me sometimes, iknow it's the way it is and it's never going to change, but with all these movements going on its often the fans that get shafted, like imagine a single mother living in NYC, struggles to afford school books for her sun, it's his bday and all he wants is the hottest thing out at the moment, a Jeremy Lin swingman jersey, so she spend the 70-90 or whatever bucks to put a smile on her suns face for his bday, fast forward 6 months, the jersey is worthless, the boy doesn't even want to wear it because it's outdated And he will get teased, what a big waste of money.....
Wow I have no idea why I am venting this, but meh there it is.

See the Wolves' massive offer for Batum??

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/8...erwolves-submit-46m-offer-sheet-nicolas-batum

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Timberwolves have submitted a four-year, $46 million offer sheet for restricted free agent Nicolas Batum.
The Portland Trail Blazers now have three days to match the offer or let him leave for Minnesota. The two teams have been having conversations about the 23-year-old swingman from France for over a week. The Wolves were hoping that Portland would agree to a sign-and-trade deal and tried to draw out negotiations as long as possible before filing the contract Sunday evening.

It's all about not getting the Blazers to match, word is Batum wasn't too pleased with the extension they offered him a little while back that averaged $5M/year.

I understand, but I guess it's the Wolves $$$ in the end! I know if iI were in their shoes, I'd be putting that $ towards a better player!

Nope, Woodson has come out many times saying Lin would be starter.

Woodson is a moron then!! They both are better then Lin, by far.

Lin is still overrated! Don't really care what anyone says about that, Felton and Kidd both run a team better, especially a team consisting of amare and melo!

I don't disagree. Though I think Kidd is past his best and I also believe that there isn't a point guard on earth that can run a team with Melo in it.
