Good to see the Grizzlies get a win.
I don't know why, but I like to see Marc do well.
Do many people really HATE the Spurs ? Or do they just fall asleep watching them ?
During the period of time that the Spurs won all 4 of their titles, the 'Ratings' were real low. The lowest rating for a finals series ever was the Spurs v Cavs from memory.
Because of all of the hype around how the ratings were down, people started to label the Spurs as 'boring' because not many people watched the finals. However, people fail to acknowledge the opponents, as well as the results as a possible reason why the ratings were down:
99 - Spurs v Knicks - Rated 11.3 -- Spurs won 4-1 so not exactly a 'gripping series' and Ewing was injured
00 - Lakers v Pacers - Rated 11.6 -- pretty close???
03 - Spurs v Nets - Rated 6.5 - Spurs won 4-2. But remember, it was the Nets!
05 - Spurs v Pistons - Rated 8.2 -- Spurs won 4-3 - Pistons!! Nuff said!
07 - Spurs v Cavs - Rated 6.2 (worst ever) - Spurs swept the cavs, so again, not interesting really!
They fail to mention the in between games like Dallas v Miami where it only rated 8.5 as well! So it is really a matter of the 2 teams that play, not just the winner and also the year in general.
So the Spurs carry a stigma (from people who don't actually watch or appreciate proper basketball) and that is why the stick to saying they are 'boring' instead of making their own decision after watching/understanding their games!
