I agree there is mental games in the NBA, but not when the other fella isn't playing!!
This sort of thing is why I first started to HATE Lebron!
No need to be like that to the KID who probably thinks you are the greatest person to ever breathe!!!
Yeah, this is a tricky one IMO. I know about the mental aspect, but this is closer to 'instigating aggression'. It is basically standing up in the face of someone to make them look bad. I don't think it should be allowed!
In saying that, for Wall to get called for it, but not Lebron is rubbish. Lebron jumps over the midget and dunks.... then does a full about face to the direction of the fella he just dunked on... but maybe isn't close enough to him??? or didn't make spot on eye contact??? either way... the intention is the same and should have been a tech on Lebron!

Haven't seen the video but I would say a quick apology and pat on the back is sufficient. The player needs to get back on the court and the rules of the NBA don't allow time-wasting or holding onto the in-bound to wait for Lowry. I'm sure the coach would be pissed if it was 5 on 4 for either offence or defence. However it wouldn't hurt to check on the cameraman say at the end of a quarter or something.

fine line yeah. guys have to be there to get the game coverage to get the players paid but there is clearly not enough space left for the players who go over the line at full speed.
Always think back to Rodman kicking that camera guy in the nuts. better off just getting up and running back rather than that!

I wonder if this would get a tech by today's standards.
If you dunk on someone, ESPECIALLY if they are trying to take a charge, you should be able to point, laugh, yell, whatever!

For sure. Anything that is directed at another player is a tech these days. I remember Ibaka doing a fingerwag a few days ago. The only reason he didn't get teched is because he did it at the crowd.

What do you think about the 2 step/3 step being a non travel?? It seems that it changed from when I watched it as a kid, but I remember the rule was simply no more than 2 steps. But now, you can easily get away with 3, even 4 in some cases, because they do not count the step which occurs while you are bringing the ball back after a bounce.
I always thought it was a simple case of 2 steps are allowed from the moment the ball last hit the ground??

travel rarely called isn't it. I don't mind the boundary pushing sometimes, keep the action flowing but you can't have people taking 4 steps.
trying to decipher this:
Section XIV-Traveling
a. A player who receives the ball while standing still may pivot, using either foot as the pivot foot.
b. A player who receives the ball while he is progressing or upon completion of a dribble, may use a two-count rhythm in coming to a stop, passing or shooting the ball.
The first count occurs:
(1) As he receives the ball, if either foot is touching the floor at the time he receives it.
(2) As the foot touches the floor, or as both feet touch the floor simultaneously after he receives the ball, if both feet are off the floor when he receives it.
The second occurs:
(1) After the count of one when either foot touches the floor, or both feet touch the floor simultaneously.
c. A player who comes to a stop on the count of one may pivot, using either foot as the pivot foot.
d. A player who comes to a stop on the count of two, with one foot in advance of the other, may pivot using only the rear foot as the pivot foot.
e. A player who comes to a stop on the count of two, with neither foot in advance of the other, may use either foot as the pivot foot.
f. In starting a dribble after (1) receiving the ball while standing still, or (2) coming to a legal stop, the ball must be out of the player's hand before the pivot foot is raised off the floor.
g. If a player, with the ball in his possession, raises his pivot foot off the floor, he must pass or shoot before his pivot foot returns to the floor. If he drops the ball while in the air, he may not be the first to touch the ball.
h. A player who falls to the floor while holding the ball, or while coming to a stop, may not gain an advantage by sliding.
i. A player who attempts a field goal may not be the first to touch the ball if it fails to touch the backboard, basket ring or another player.
PENALTY: Loss of ball. The ball is awarded to the opposing team at the sideline, nearest spot of the violation but no nearer the baseline than the foul line extended.
i think its a joke man. these are all grown men, they can take it. no one is going home crying to there mum coz they got dunked on by wall then he stared them down. afterwards, its a part of the game, it gets fans excited. it was a big thing throughout the 90s its how people remember the games. i think the refs need to lighten up. plus, im far from a lebron hater, but, i saw lebron stare someone down just the other day same way JWall did, and he got no tech foul. so if they really have to call these tech fouls, atleast be consistant about it.

No, it's all a part of the emotion and passion of the game. Refs are so touchy right now, it's a silly rule, players can't do anything!!
The techs are pretty soft if you ask me, and inconsistent just looking at the lebron/wall comparison.
Also, if players, such as Lowry, dont have the common courtesy to check on someone theyve just cleared out then it reflects who they are. On the other hand, if a different player did turn around and check on that ref/cameraman then it would only boost their profile in a positive way.

I've booed opposition players, abused referees, can't remember booing my own NBL team but I can still understand it in regards to NBA. Some of the seat prices are huge and some bad games are all the players fault, not the coaches and not the management so I can understand expressing disgust and frustration for sure!
