Hey guys - As you all know, I have a monthly column in Handle basketball magazine about trading cards called "The Department Of Fair Trading"

Thanks to all the emails to the magazine from my fans (thanks to the two of you), they have decided to increase the size of the article to a full page every edition!

With the increase in space, I am considering having a new section - similar to Becketts "Pull Of The Month" - but this section will be called "Pack Peelers" - exclusively for Aussie collectors and their mojo pulls from packs :D

I need some submissions from our members to get the ball rolling, to feature in the next edition of Handle.

What we will need, is either a picture of your ugly mug holding the card (needs to be good quality - not a mobile phone shot) or a high res (300dpi) scan of the card, and a short story about how you pulled the card, where you bought the pack from, etc etc. The best pulls will be featured in the column.

Please email your submissions to me graham@hill33.com

Your comments are welcome!

Sweet Graham...i might include my Jordan Patch pull (1:5000)....is that the sort of thing you are after??

Clarkey's Mavs Quad!!!!!

Then you can link my website to show scans... lol. (dont have it in hand yet).

But I like the idea, that'd be awesome!

p.s. I hear Chad had a "Pull Of The Night"... ha ha ha ha

When I get the chance I will post my Kobe performance clause I pulled as he achieved the score!

my Andrew Bogut auto from a single pack of SP Authentic, purchased after breaking a whole box of 02 Hardcourt (which didn't yield anything quite as valuable or noteworthy).
might make a good story, there was drama... there was highs, there was lows.

started out with stevo coming around to attend my break at quite literally the crack of dawn.
my scanner then promptly decided to not work for no reason (began working again a couple of days later, also for no particular reason).
broke the box but still wasnt satisfied so we made our way down to the local markets to grab a bite to eat and get something from justin's shop.
met some guys at the shop, obviously only newly returning to the hobby and had a chat, and of course refered them onto ozcardtrader.com(.)

then came the pack busting...
one of the guys got a Jordan/Lebron box topper pack and a pack of 04/05 topps chrome. neither yielded anything special.
i then purchased a pack of 05/06 sp authentic, and having seen the breaks on the boards here, expected base.. no more
so i opened the pack, and see the central card is a bit off colour, i figure its a decoy.

i actually take the time to appreciate the base, noting a darius miles to stevo (a miles collector at the time) and a jason kidd (a favourite of one of the anonymous blokes).
then i get to the central card, and can tell instantly its something special, even when it was only marginally poking out from behind the Kidd.
its an auto, but its not some lame martynas andriuskevicius auto.
its Ozcards' favourite and #1 draft pick, Andrew Bogut - and to top it off, the condition is fantastic.

so there i am basking in the afterglow of my new card, quickly purchasing some toploaders to ensure its well protected ASAP
in the background stevo is lamenting his decision to "do the right thing" and buy nothing, now changing his mind to purchase 2 packs of 06 sweet shot and 7 packs of 05 topps chrome.
the sweet shot are a downright disappointment yielding a mere luke jackson numbered parallel.

in a semi rage the topps chrome packs are torn open quickly and the cards flicked through even faster in search of that elusive mojo, but to no avail.
the disappointment is so strong that stevo neglects to notice he has in fact pulled a refractor of his favourite player (Corey Maggette, or as he likes to call him, "Maggot").
even a black refractor of kirk hinrich, and 3 regular refractors, from a mere 7 packs cannot quench his mojo thirst
for on that day, the mojo was mine :D

Can you get the scans as per the above and shoot me an email. Thanks mate.

More submissions welcome, the more the merrier. We will try and feature one every edition. If we cant get enough interest, the idea will more than likely be scrapped and not go ahead. No use having a section if it cant be sustained.

Ok guys finally I thought I'd post something usefull..

Ok about a month back dave from rareair asked me to help him with the sandown card show, always one to help a mate (and knowing I could look for trade) I agreed and also knew Sonny from southernhemispherecards would be alongside us (always a laugh bagging lowly nba players) I started off by buying a box of sp Sig ....and pulled not much an Oliver Miller (oops sorry Sean May) auto . And decided that would do me for the day, after a longgggg day (long because I had to talk to scottsophie lol ) I decided on the way out to get a box of SPA off Sonny (he was even good enough to put it on my tab haha ) so I was given box 6 , I asked him what other boxes were left in the case and he said 3 and 5 (think it was 5 ) I asked for 3 as it is from the left, he then explained thats not how the case is packed but I didnt care I wanted 3 and got that box. In the car home I said to dave If I didnt pull anything of note that would just about do me with breaking boxes as the last 8 or so ive broken have yeilded crap. Got home to watch the 2 half of the pies touching up the hawks and got through 17 packs of the 20 without a single insert (curse you sonny) then pack 18......a Raymond Felton Auto 3 color Patch - Gold /25 and also it was number 20 his jersey number.... (I did a few laps of the house doing the bull dance, dave can confirm this ) then sat back down to open the last 2 and also pulled a granger auto, but the felton was by far the best card Ive pulled :) hope you enjoyed reading this :)

Lol it was you that was driving me mad, i had to go home because the site of you in a mussle top nearly made me sick and blind from the glare of your white arms.:D

I think it's a great idea Graham.

Feel free to use the scans of the Quad Auto if you want. You should know most of the details of the box ( ;-) ), but if you want anymore details, then ask.

Also, just picked up current month's issue. Great read, but had a thought. Down the bottom, with the links to PSA & Bkt, I would've thought it could be a good idea to include a link to this site if people wanted more infor on card collecting.

Good luck with what you decide.
