Yep, region compatible . Not sure about their DVDs/Blu-Rays though. It's suited to Aus (OZ), and some stuff are noted to have different (EUR) power adaptors (say a powered speaker set, etc).

Delivery can vary, depending, you could be a week, or 3. I got my turtle beach headset off them in around 8 days! All shipments come from the UK where they're based.

Also, the UK has an R Rating on games....

BUT, you CAN face fines if caught importing games which have been refused classification... ie. the new Mortal Kombat....

Dead Island wasn't banned here in Australia and wasn't cut. The only thing that was changed was the hanging Zombie in the artwork. EB have been selling it since it came out.

It's not so much the R rated sticker that's the problem, its more that its a product that hasn't been through our classification system.

A stance that is struggling to hold up in the face of immediately accessible online content. (hence the attempts by Stephen Conroy and Co. to erect a great big firewall around Australia).

If a game isn't stamped locally (ie your low key releases) then it's highly likely the game disc itself has the classification markings of another country on it. For example, my copy of Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage - which I bought new, locally at JB HiFi and is classified MA15+ - has 18+ stickers on it from both the USK (German classification) and BBFC (British classification).

You lost me Mat, you said yourself that the game's available to buy in-store (I was in JB on the weekend, they had about a dozen pre-owned copies, both covers too), but then you said it's a product that hasnt been through our classification system, are you referring to the game or the rating there?


Either way, my original point was that if you buy an R18 game from OzGameShop, you may not be able to trade it in, should you try to. hence my comment about Dead Island, I wasnt meant to be able to trade it in, but I believe the staff member wanted for himself (they do that, lol). I was refused trade on LA Noire, and Naughty Bear (LMAO) because of their R18 rating.

I would be more concerned about US games. I knwo my PS3 can play them. But to downlaod extra content, I need to connect to the US server as the game is US version.

I really wish they dropped all this nonsense.

Yeah region settings can be a bitch! Xbox games from OzGameShop have no issues. I once asked them why they didnt stock MS Points, they said because it was different Country, yet their XBL Memberships (around $50 for 12 months!!!) work no probs!

I hear PlayAsia is great for PS3 games? But a lot of their stuff is non-english too... lol.

I was basically saying that it's possible they wont take your games because they aren't stickered with classifications by the Australian Classification Board, and they therefore can't guarantee they the content ont he games comply with Australian classification standards - regardless if its the very same game that was released in Australia. You could walk up with a T-Teen, or 13+ stickered game, and they'd still refuse it because it doesn't comply with local regulations.

You were saying it was possibly against the law for them to accept R18 stickered games from other countries, but there are games released within Australia with the very same R18 stickers on them, which get classified and released within Australia as MA15+ (ie the aforementioned Fist of the North Star game I have, which has two R18 stickers on it, as well as an Australian MA15+ sticker).
In saying that, I remember people talking about Gametraders (?) selling imports, and now Harvey Norman is offering direct imports from their UK suppliers, so now I really don't know.

Ultimately they're probably just covering their arses, because who knows if those games were slightly altered for an Australian release (such as Fallout 3 having to change the name of one of the drugs). I guess it depends on how savvy the store attendent is.

Going OT here, but I remember buying State of Emergency from EB Games once and was asked to show ID because it was an R18 rated game!

Play asia is good for single player games as you dont need expansions.

I know for DS it was the go to place. However the 3DS is region locked (we are eur and aus) so europe games work fine. But all my USA games that worked on DS do not work on a 3DS.

^ damn that sucks! I didnt know that about the 3DS. I've got the Zelda 25th Anniversary Edition one, bought it from EB Games when they had a sale on, same price as the regular coloured 3DS's $199.

I'm still looking to track down one of those cards you can use to play roms with.

I've been looking at them for a few months, never ordered anything from them.. but now I've heard some good things I'll def give them a try. Seriously, the prices are pretty good. Especially over steam/jb/eb

Yeah they're definitely cheap! Even when Harvey Norman released their online (only) store trying to cut in on the wholesale direct prices, they're still not as competitive as OZGS.

Side note, I just received an email saying I've been awarded 2,013 Player Points from purchasing my 12+2 month XBL sub and Capcom Classics game!
